By now, you’ve no doubt booked your flight for race weekend, too. But have you considered how you’ll get to and from the airport for the race? Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about getting to St. George from the region’s airports.

Getting to Your Hotel From St. George Regional Airport

While it may be small, St. George does have its own airport. St. George Regional Airport offers daily flights to several major cities through the South and Southwest, including Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, and Dallas. Flight options are limited and are likely to be more expensive than flights to the two other nearby international airports. But if you live in one of those cities or want to transfer directly to St. George without having to drive, this can be a great option.

After arriving at St. George Regional Airport, you’ll have a few options to choose from to get to your hotel or vacation rental. One option is to rent a car. Both Hertz Car Rental and National Car Rental have rental offices on-site at the airport. Other car rental companies, including Budget, Avis, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and more, have rental offices in St. George. Many offer shuttle pick-up from the airport for those looking to rent a car.

If you’re staying at one of Vibrant Management’s, St. George’s premier boutique hospitality management company, properties in nearby Springdale and don’t want to rent a car, you can use a taxi, Uber or Lyft, or a shuttle service to get to your hotel or vacation rental. If you opt for a shuttle, such as the St. George Shuttle, keep in mind that you’ll likely need to get a taxi or rideshare to get to the starting line on the day of the race.

Getting to St. George From Las Vegas

Harry Reid International Airport, formerly McCarran International Airport, is the closest international airport to St. George and Springdale. This airport is located in Las Vegas. It offers hundreds of daily flights to and from cities across the U.S., as well as from many international destinations.

Most of the major car rental companies have rental counters at this airport or nearby locations with shuttles for renters. The drive from Las Vegas to St. George is around 2 hours, making it an easy transfer for those wanting the freedom of a rental car during your stay.

If you’d prefer not to rent a car, there are many different shuttle options and private transfers that will take you from the airport to St. George. St. George Shuttle offers both daily shuttle transfers and private charter transfers between the two cities. The Salt Lake Express is another popular shuttle option offering daily trips between Las Vegas and St. George.

Getting to St. George From Salt Lake City

While further away from St. George than Las Vegas, the Salt Lake City International Airport is another option for athletes, volunteers, and spectators traveling to the area for the 2021 IRONMAN® World Championship.

Salt Lake City is just over 4 hour drive to St. George. This means that a taxi or rideshare isn’t an option. But like Las Vegas, most major car rental companies have rental counters at the Salt Lake City International Airport. There are also several shuttle transfers available. Salt Lake Express is one popular option, with several daily routes between the cities. The St. George Shuttle also offers daily transfers from SLC to St. George.

Keep in mind that if you choose not to rent a car during your visit, but still want to extend your stay and explore Zion National Park after race weekend, you may need to get a taxi or rideshare to the park. But staying at Cliffrose Lodge or Watchman Villas is a great alternative. Both are within walking distance of shuttle stops for the Springdale Shuttle. This shuttle takes you to the entrance to the park, and to the Zion Canyon Shuttle, which takes you to the park’s most popular overlooks and hiking trails.
