This working ranch and family-owned vacation destination is located in Torrey, Utah, just outside the gates of Capitol Reef National Park. This stunning national park may not see the same visitor numbers as its neighbor to the south, but it’s incredible landscapes and range of hiking trails certainly rival that of Zion.
Cougar Ridge offers two unique options for travelers; a large lodge that can accommodate big families and other groups, as well as smaller private Casitas ideal for families, couples, and even solo travelers.

Your Choice of Luxury Accommodations
As mentioned, Cougar Ridge has two unique options when it comes to lodging.
The original lodging option at Cougar Ridge is the main Lodge. This massive, three-story building features four luxurious master suites, each with its own king-sized bed and oversized private bathroom. A bunk room on the third floor also accommodates additional guests. The entire Lodge is available as a single rental, with a minimum two-night stay.
In addition to the suites, the Lodge features two full kitchens and a dining room with space for 10 people. Other features include an indoor bowling alley, a well-equipped gym with a sauna and steam room, a game room, a theater room, and more. This makes it a great option for family reunions or corporate retreats; everything you need is located inside the Lodge.
For small families, couples, or even solo travelers, Cougar Ridge’s Casitas provide a great alternative to the Lodge. Each of the Casitas features two rooms including a king room and a room with two queen-sized beds. There is also a living space with a kitchenette, as well as a private deck with a Traeger grill. The Casitas can be rented for as little as one night. While guests won’t have access to the Lodge, they can still enjoy a variety of other amenities, including a hot tub. Two of the Casitas are even pet-friendly, so you won’t have to leave your four-legged family member at home.
On-Site Activities
While Capitol Reef is just a short drive away, Cougar Ridge also offers a variety of exciting on-site activities. The property is still a working ranch, which means that it is home to tons of animals. Guests can visit and interact with alpacas, longhorns, horses, ducks, donkeys, and more. A resident cat and dog wander the property, and may even stop by the patio of your Casita for a visit. If you’re looking to experience ranch life, you can even talk to the owner about taking part in some of the day-to-day activities that go into caring for the animals.
For those looking to entertain a group, you can schedule a private on-site rodeo for an additional fee, as well as a backyard BBQ, learning workshops, and more. In the evenings, spend your time relaxing in the hot tub underneath a blanket of stars, or roast marshmallows around a campfire.
One unique feature of this Vibrant Management property is that it can also host weddings! From small elopements to wedding receptions of 150 guests or more, Cougar Ridge can accommodate it all.
Off-Site Activities
For those looking to explore more of Southern Utah, Cougar Ridge is just a short drive away from many exciting outdoor attractions. Capitol Reef National Park is one of the most popular. This unique park is best known for the Waterpocket Fold, a geological phenomenon that creates stunning landscapes and rock formations. The park is home to dozens of hiking trails of all difficulty levels. A scenic drive through this park is a must-see any time of year.

While Cougar Ridge doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, there are plenty to choose from in nearby Torrey, Utah. You can also plan a catered meal, or grill your own food, both at the Lodge and on the patio of your private Casita.
